While thinking about the culture of the various characters in The Firebringer books, it struck me that gryphons are quite a bit like Star Trek's Klingons.

1. Proud race
2. Value code of honor, both personal and societal
3. Warrior culture
4. Status gained through battle
5. Honor (code) not as important as personal survival
6. Superiority complex

There are probably more, and we could elaborate with specific examples if you want, but are there thoughts on this? What are the differences between the races?

I... am too shocked at this revelation to add anything other than you are very right. Their relationship with the Vale is very much like the Klingons and the Federation as well, they have boundaries but attack for defense and because they feel the Federation sometimes oversteps their bounds.

Its like I'm falling... oh... its like I'm falling, in love."

Oooh, Good point Kitai. The Federation is bound by rules like the Ring is, I hadn't thought of extending the parallel!
