Kokopelli swung his baseball bat like a gentleman's walking stick. *Swish* *flourish* *swish* *click* and repeat. However, for all his gaiety his eyes were hard, scanning the tree lined pathway for any sign of movement. This silly job at the company was merely a cover for his place in the FBI. In all actuality he would never have stuck himself behind a desk, ever, if he hadn't known he could bash heads at night and on weekends. It was an entertaining, and dangerous, business, that was for sure.
Suddenly a bang from behind him made him spin around. Guns didn't frighten him, he had hardly bat an eye at the explosive sound, but they normally meant trouble. Normally. He tucked back his ears in annoyance as Eula berated Maltiri for his trigger happy tendencies. Pelli didn't know much about Tiri, but over the past few weeks he had learned he had a military past, and overly dramatic tendencies. Though he guessed most veterans did. The two of them got along grand though because of this. Pelli was more dramatic in the lighthearted way, except now. Now he was just annoyed. Squirrel or not a man from a military background such as his should know not to give away position. He sighed. Oh well, maybe he'd get to bash some zombies. That would be a tale for his kids, if he ever had any. His mind wandered to Wasp. He wondered where she was... He shook his head, why should he think of Wasp when he thought of kids? He didn't lo... he looked at the bat, suddenly self conscious for no reason. Did he?
His thoughts were interrupted by Maltiri rallying the troops. He smiled, now that was a more effective way of doing things. Not just shooting silver bullets and hoping you hit some nightmare in the dark. At his whisper Pelli chuckled.
"Void? Protect anyone? Are you kidding?"
But then Tiri's theatrics took hold and he went all Shakespearean. Pelli couldn't help but smile. Ah, but a touch of theater could bring so grand a feeling to his heart. He clapped Tiri on the back.
"You, my friend, have made it to the top of my awesome list." He turned to everyone else. "Maltiri is right. Each of you has a weapon that should be used in different ways. Feel free to get creative though. We're not in the 18th century here. Tiri, I want you to take hind if that's all right. Pan, come on up here with me. Your arrows will be good to back me up. Void and Eula, take center and help hind or front when ever they need it. And don't go firing at every rustled branch, Tiri my man. If it really is a zombie it wont move fast enough to get you between the trees and the path with reflexes like yours."
A scream from the opposite direction tore Pelli's eyes the other way. It came from the staff cabin. He flattened his ears. He had to stick with the group... but... No, they had Delita. And... Wasp... His heart wrenched a little bit that time. Wasp had gone to the staff cabin that evening. He knew she could handle herself but... He tore his eyes forward.
"Come on, we need to keep moving. Those folks will be fine. That was probably that proper one, Galinda. She'd scream at a snail. Besides, they have Delita up there and we all know he's tough! Stick together, we're half way there."

"Give me words, I'll miss use them. Obligations, I'll miss place them. 'Cause all religion ever made of me was just a sinner with a stone tied to my feet. It never set me free. It's gotta be more like falling in love, than something to believe in. More like losing my heart, than giving my allegiance. Caught up, called out, come take a look at me now. Its like I'm falling... oh... its like I'm falling, in love." ♪♫More Like Falling in Love♫♪ ~ Jason Gray
